METHUEN — School Committee member Laurie Keegan said the district should either close for all major religious holidays or none at all.

The committee voted 4-2 on Monday to approve next year’s school calendar, which includes a day off for Good Friday – a longstanding practice of the district. However, as the city becomes increasingly more diverse, a handful of members said that an in-depth discussion on religious holidays was warranted, though it will likely not affect next year.
