Property taxes as a share of household income

Analysis from the New Hampshire Fiscal Policy Institute shows that the richest 20% of households in the state pay the lowest in taxes as a percentage of household income.

CONCORD, N.H. — Property taxes account for 63 to 64 percent of all the revenue state and local governments raise in New Hampshire.

However, that money is raised through widely varying rates across the state, financially impacting lower- and moderate-income property owners much more than the state’s higher income earners.
