BOSTON — Massachusetts police chiefs can no longer deny a license to carry a firearm if applicants lack “good reason” to fear injury to themselves or their property.

That’s according to new issued by Attorney General Maura Healey’s office, which comes in response to a U.S. Supreme Court ruling nearly two weeks ago striking down a New York law that prevented many gun owners from getting concealed carry permits.
